Melvin Ausbie Jr was born in Wichita, KS on April 20, 1952 to the late Melvin Ausbie Sr and late Ruby Key. He was raised by his father and late stepmother Marie Ausbie. He was the third of six children. Melvin joined Saint James Missionary Baptist Church at a young age where he accepted Christ as his personal savior. He received his education in Wichita where he attended elementary and middle school before graduating from Wichita North High School in 1971 where he ran track and field holding records that still stand today. He was very passionate about music and he loved to play his guitar. Melvin never met a stranger, he invited all he met to be a part of his life and enjoy his company. Some of you may remember him as Sandy, Goober, Junior, or Daddio but no matter what name you used, he was always that same happy go lucky person that made you laugh.
