It is with deep and profound sadness I inform you that one of the pillars of our class, Val Jean Jackson Jr., has passed away. In addition to being one of the most charismatic and charming people I've ever had the pleasure to know, Val was also one of the finest men I've ever known. My heart goes out to his family and all of you who knew him and feel the loss.

I remember the first time I saw Val at North, early Sophmore year. He was simply one of the most handsome boys I'd ever seen. He walked with confidence, he was graceful, had pizzazz. His smile...spectacular. And, he was friendly, always. I liked passing him in the halls. I considered Val famous at North. Fifty years later, I'm deeply grateful he and I were able to talk for a short while at our reunion. I cherish that. He still had pizzazz and I was still dazzled by that smile.
