Lorna Landrum VIEW PROFILE

 Submitted by Theresa Norwood Canidy

Died of: Cancer

After North High Lorna and I attended Friends University where we were both cheerleaders. After leaving Friends we kept in touch and always saw each when she came home. Our lives took us on different paths but we both became very involved in our churches. Lorna had 3 children and died from breast cancer. I always think of her on her birthday and everytime I hear Friends University. She is deeply missed but I know we will see each other one day!

I was a guest in the home of Lorna and husband Ted in Dallas. Three weeks later she passed away. We periodically kept in contact prior to her illness. I have fond childhood memories of playdate visits at Lorna's house on 8th Street. We went that far back.  Then there was Sunday School and church at St. Mary's Baptist Church. I remember the elegance, grace, and quiet spirit of her Mom. I remember participating in a stage performance for her Mom's professional group and dancing to "The Elephant Walk".  There are memories of my Chicago visit when she was living there. Lorna was at peace and had the blessed assurance of eternal life. During my last visit with her, she was engaging and still had her sense of humor. We talked about our faith. She was very brave. I had no idea the end would come so soon. It was right before 9/11. I remember because I have a fear of flying. She thanked me and God for being an overcomer of that fear. After 9/11 I remember thinking I probably would never had seen her again if that had happened prior to my visit. I thank God for the opportunity and a friendship that spanned many years.
